It’s pink, purple, and lavender. Belrad laundry detergent packaging design and logo design was one of those nice graphic design projects that I worked on, not because I like detergents, but mostly because the client was agreeable and willing to compromise. In other words, the client listened to my design advice and gave me creative freedom. Of course, within limits of his requirements. When client and graphic designers compromise, designs come out nice and everybody is happy.
The client wanted his packaging design to be lavender. Since his products are mainly lavender-scented detergents. He also wanted to differentiate himself from the usually low-quality, locally made detergents by making the packaging and logo designs look more of “aspirational” brand—looks good, good quality, and affordable. Another similar design project I worked on is the packaging and logo design of P'tite Saveur.
One of the things he wanted to highlight in the design is “lavender-powered” since the local market loves the scent of lavender. He also wanted to emphasize that his formulation is highly concentrated (3x more concentrated than normal). This means that consumers only need to use 3x less than the usual. This is especially important for people that earn less than a dollar a day.
I was very happy to see this product released in the local market. The client was very happy. I wish to have more design projects like this. Those are the times when I felt that I have contributed to someone's life as a graphic designer; it makes the design soul grow just a little bit.
