BOOK REVIEW: THE OBESITY CODE, A BOOK THAT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE
The Obesity Code not only talks about obesity in a new light (from the perspective of a nephrologist) it also talks about a solution to obesity.
It first explains the problem in clear simple terms. Which is obesity is caused by hormone imbalance in the body, something so rarely talked about in medical and health & fitness circles. To be more specific, Dr. Fung talks about insulin as the culprit of the obesity epidemic.
What I like about this book is it presents a fresh perspective and gives a new solution to the obesity epidemic according to the problem that was identified. The solution to obesity according to Dr. Fung is fasting, i.e. not eating for a specified period of time. That might seem like a no brainer but he explains in great detail why fasting works and why everyone should be fasting (obese or not).
In truth, I find that this book is more about how to keep yourself healthy and not become obese rather than a discussion of obesity. Although, that is part of the discussion, I think that Dr. Fung just used that as a key to segue into a discussion of the benefits of fasting.
